tactile objects
This is a series of tactile sculptures that combine textures, shapes and weight, creating a sensory, interactive installation. The sculptures are moulded with plaster using everyday, ubiquitously found empty packaging. Through this process, these containers turn into positive solid objects, revealing aspects otherwise overlooked. We also add another element to contrast textures, with smooth cashmere. By using a variety of materials with different tactile, visual and weight variations we enable the viewer or participant to experience, and so perceive these objects differently.
Our proposal includes a series of workshops where people would create their own tactile objects. It would also experiment with the connection between texture and colour. Through these activities we aim to facilitate the creation of a space where people can experience ‘Sensory Thinking’.
